Comments: As an observational astrophysicist, light pollution is a big problem for me. One of my first professional tasks (in 1972) was to measure how London lit up the night sky (very detrimentally, and it's now much worse!) Also, light pollution is a pointless and completely avoidable waste of energy coming mostly from non-renewable fuels.

Comments: Milton Keynes is a place with terrible light pollution. The orange glow on the horizon can be seen for miles. Very small amount of dark skies around here for observing the night sky.

Comments: My family was shocked when they realised just how much light pollution we were living with and had become used to when we went on holiday to a remote part of the UK. The difference in the night sky for one thing was enormous. It brought back memories of my early days when most parts of the country were pollution free.
