Name: Marilyn Smith on May 13, 2011Comments: I live with chronic pain. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Fortunately, I live in Oregon where the laws state that doctors must treat chronic pain and that no one should have to live without treatment. We have "pain doctors" who have special training to disburse such meds and the state follows treatment closely. I can assure you that I do not take take more than necessary and because of this, I am able to lead a somewhat normal life. What about people with terminal cancer? This is NOT acceptable!Flag

Name: Sandra Stevenson on May 13, 2011Comments: I have had extensive back surgery and was left with a great deal of nerve pain from it. I also have suffered for years with peripheral neuropothy. Chronic pain makes it nearly impossible to do anything simply because the pain holds back any chance of quality life. I finally, after searching for years, found a doctor who knew how to control the nerve pain. It shouldn't be necessary for us to go thru this trying to find a doctor who understands and knows how to treat it.Flag

Name: Shannon Roberts on May 13, 2011Comments: I have fibromyalgia, arthritis on my spine and scoliosis, plus a compression fracture in my back. I live with terrible pain everyday. It's very hard to get doctors to give medication to help with the pain. Something needs to be done to help us, the ones who live with this pain everyday.Flag

Name: Robin Hultman on May 13, 2011Comments: I live with severe chronic pain. I choose to not use meds to help, mostly due to severe reactions I've had in the past with quite a few meds. However; I am a VERY STRONG believer that a person should have the right to choose if they want meds or not! I wish this pain and suffering on NO ONE! I have good days and bad. My family helps take care of me. On a few days it gets so bad that I can't really do hardly anything and I do mean hardly anything! I am so thankful and lucky to have a husband and family whom is willing to help me. It is EXTREMELY embarrasing to have to rely on others to help you on your very bad days! If medication will help those to be able to do more even if it's a little it is so worth it. government officials as well as others need to realize that we're not talking only about pain relief, it's also about self esteem.Flag

So my future lies with numerous l.p's (lumber punctures) to release c.f fluid (cerebral fluid) from around the the sack of the brain. I am at a stage where the future for me is agonising and painful and i do not want to put my children through the memory of there mum living her life unhappy and in constant pain.Flag

Name: B. Polley-Augente on May 15, 2011Comments: I'm actually being treated and medicated properly, finally, here in CA. However, this wasn't always the case, so I do understand what you're talking about. I hate the illegal druggies that make it that much harder for us and our Doctors to have guaranteed, somewhat easy to prescribe Opioid medications. They have so many extra regulations, then we pay the price when they are reluctant to or stop prescribing them altogether! All the while those that misuse & abuse Opioids keep on doing it and somehow never seem to run out. This really is an outrage! I've had a Chronic Pain Syndrome (CRPS/RSD) since 1991 and I know that the only thing that actually keeps me able to function as well as I do now, are my pain medications. If I lived in Fla., I would move A.S.A.P! Peace and Light to you and Blessings to you & your Family. (Good Luck with this Petition, I'm glad you're doing it,Thank You Very Much!)Flag

Name: Debbie From NC on May 16, 2011Comments: I live every day with chronic pain and I go to a pain clinic monthly to get opioids to help with the pain so I can function daily. Without the medicine I would be unable to function as much as I can. When prescribed and used the correct way it is a very effective treatment for those of us who need it. The pain clinic does not prescribe this therapy to everyone, just those of us who have tried other treatments. I have been on narcotic therapy since 1996 and and I thank and bless the doctors for their help. This necessary treatment is needed by some of us and should not be taken from those who really need it. Thank God I dont live in Florida or I would not be able to function daily. I hope you win your battle to have legitimate pain clinics you can use.Flag

Name: Gregory Stevenson on May 16, 2011Comments: I have had to live with my wife during the years of pain she has had to live with...it is difficult to comfort a person who is in constant discomfort. No relief in sight. She has not felt like going places and doing things because of the pain. I believe that doctors and the government should concentrate on finding ways to relieve the discomfort people with chronic pain are forced to live with on a day to day basis with no real relief.Flag

Name: Jeffrey Ross on May 17, 2011Comments: My wife also lives in chronic pain. in fact she started this petition in hopes to open some eyes to what's wrong with this system. When she is in pain we all hurt. sadly we voted in most of the people in our government that are doing this to her and thousands more "chronic pain" patients. We as Americans need to take a stand, draw a line somewhere. I watch her sit at her computer when she can and write to everyone in our local Government about this issue and not one of them has the common courtesy of replying to her. It is sad how they think they are above us! My hope is that those of you reading this that knows of someone that suffers, maybe you suffer or your mother or father.. that you would take the time to sign this for, for you, for the thousands of people having to live in Chronic Pain & their families that live through it as well.Flag

Name: EILEEN AUGENTE on Jun 15, 2011Comments: Everyone in pain deserves to be treated competently and adequately to enable them to function and enjoy life. That means that opiods must be available through legal prescriptions and pain management clinics. No one free of pain has the right to deny the freedom of pain to someone who lives in constant pain.Flag

Name: Paula H Smith on Jul 17, 2011Comments: My husband and I both live in chronic pain. He was given an "anti-seizure" med by a pain doctor last week. Anti-seizure? Why? The doctor had our previous records. He knew that low-dose methadone (20 mg/day) would give us quality in our lives. Instead, he prescribed the anti-seizure med because of the new laws. He took one (because we felt we had no other choice), and spent two days in the hospital with inflammation of the esophagus and stomach. Pain medication is not dangerous if taken as it should be.Flag

Name: Janice Shelton on Apr 20, 2012Comments: i have been a chronic pain sufferer since 1995 and i am so tired of fighting ever step of the way just to try and have a bearable life. i am tired of people looking at me as if i am just a druggie seeking drugs. i have been on the same dosage of pain medication for twelve years and it doesn't do the job of making my pain bearable anymore. my doctor sympathizes with me but he is afraid to up my dosage for fear of losing his license. so i am stuck in limbo and am forced to live in agony because of our government being worried more about the real drug addicts and not the people suffering because of them.Flag
