I have encountered issues with transferring my personalized license plates twice. For whatever reason the DMV has a holding procedure from the time you pay your money to them to the time the information is transferred in their system so your plate information may or may not be updated instantly.I didn't have this understanding until I was pulled over and notified by police that when my plates were ran they came back on a different car. This car being the one I had just paid to have my plates transferred from. Honestly, I've paid way too much for this kind of inconvenience! I have been ticketed due to this matter and I'm told that tickets are issued based upon the discretion of the officers. I have a problem with this as well because it's not about discretion.....IT'S ABOUT LEGALITY.I paid at the DMV to have plates transferred. The DMV accepted my money, they issued me a receipt and sent me on my way believing my car was legally registered. Never once did someone mention, "Oh by the way even though you have a receipt the cops will pull you over and ticket you for what you just paid for so you won't be ticketed." When I sought assistance from the DMV I was told of the procedure and basically informed that this is "just the way it is". In my life and time I have learned that sometimes the "way it is"is simply just the way it's been being. And with that, I ask for those in this situation or individuals whom this might affect to work with me to change this procedure of license updating with the DMV. I only ask that a person not be ticketed when there is proof of registration from the local DMV and the DMV has chosen to not update their system.
