New Web-based Register of Electors
We in Ireland, need to set up a web-based electorate, identical to the hardcopy "Register of Electors (names and addresses)" but with additional data, eg age, occupation, qualifications, experiences etc. and also any special (vested) interests. Then every issue before our highly incompetent government and opposition parties can be voted on by every registered citizen (with an automatic declaration of vested interests) thereby expressing the right of that citizen to vote but tempered with the honesty of legitimate bias. As well as voting, we can also have arguments for and against for all voters to consider. We can even have propositions put before the electorate by anyone who can muster say 1,000 affirmations first (on the same web-site). Initially this will put real pressure on TDs to follow popular opinion (instead of the vested interest of insider-elites) and later on, the web-based approach can take over completely and finally deliver true democracy instead the sham we have to put up with now!
