Concern: We want to graduate with our subject groups! We are disappointed that we will not even, in some cases, see half our subject groups at graduation. We have been told it could be due to numbers, to fit into the chapel. Well surely organised by subject could still confirm numbers for the chapel. Another query, why are we in the Chapel?? All other graduations are in the cathedral?? Why aren't we?? Our main concern and the reason we are signing this Petition is because we feel we have been treated unfairly! We want to graduate with the people we have been with all year!! Some University Tutors agree, we are being passed pillar to post. We email one person, who forwards it someone else. Who sends a reply saying, "The allocations of awards for graduation have been confirmed and cannot be amended... approved by the Dean of Students" received from Graduation. The email reply from Penny Haughan, Dean of Students, is the same as every other email we have received: Many thanks for your e-mail, your comments have been noted. I can confirm that the allocation of awards for Graduation July 2011 has now been confirmed and cannot be amended and has been approved. A lot of time has been taken to try to split the awards over the graduation days in a fair way and we have tried to put students of a similar award and subject together where possible. Everyone is saying the same, time has been taken to make it FAIR, it is now CONFIRMED. When were we as students CONSULTED??? How would we have seen BEFORE it was confirmed?? When did we have the chance to tell them our opinion? The only time is now. I propose you sign our petition, and along with many of us who already have: DO NOT ATTEND GRADUATION, unless you are with your friends and the people you have been with throughout the year!!
