Name: Sam Jasinski on Jan 18, 2007Comments: I graduated from LHS in 2004. While there, I played football and wrestled for four years under Coach Hill. His recent firing pains me in many ways. Coach Hill epitomizes the characteristics that most students in this country are lacking; Hard Work, Dedication, Integrity and Passion. He deserves more for his twenty plus years of service than the lack of recognition and appreciation that these few parents, the board and the administration has given him. Coach Hill is not the problem he is the solution. For parents that want to "help [their] children" and make Lakeside football "competitive" take a lesson from Coach Hill, teach your kids about loyalty, perseverence in the face of adversity and work ethic so that when they step on the field or the mat or the court they are the type of child who is willing to do what it takes to compete not walk away or complain because it's too hard. Carney's decision shouldn't have been a hard one. If his job as Principal is to make LHS competitive and the best learning environment possible, then standing by Coach Hill should have been a no brainer. No matter the win-loss record, Lakeside will not find a better man for the job.Flag

I was very suprised to hear the news and hope Coach Hill will come out on top and retain his rightful position at Lakeside as he so deserves for all that he has done for the students at Lakeside!Flag

Coach hill has made sports how it is today in Augusta and around the area. Because of coach i won state more than once and got ranked national and he was there for me the whole time. I owe a lot to him and i think he should get his job back. Now i wrestle at Univ. of the Cumberland in KY on a full ride because of Coach Hill.Flag

Name: Donaven Lowe on Jan 19, 2007Comments: For a man that has been with a high school ever since it's opening to be fired from a position that he worked so hard at is completely outragous to me. Being a 4 year wrestler and football player I have grown to love this man for his generosity, his loyalness, and his dedication to the athletes AND students of Lakeside High School. For those that may suggest that he's not getting the job done should take notice to the outstanding wrestling program that he built from nothing. So that problem doen not lie within the coach. Finally I would like to say that this sort of insensitivaty just shows the true face of LHS and that instead of being driven by the students, parents place them in the back seat while they take hold of the wheel.Flag

Name: Fred Tian on Jan 20, 2007Comments: I am an alumnus at Lakeside and I do not think firing Coach Hill as football coach AND AD was a good idea. Year in and year out, coach hill has always been popular with students and is a great motivator. I do not believe wins and losses alone should signify what kind of person he was. I think even if Coach hill was dismissed as head football coach, i do not think he should be fired as athletic director. Just look at all the things that he has done. Introducing new sports for the student body and pushing for a new weight room. Why not look at the assistant coaches that he has to work with In my opinion, Lakeside's football's record in the past few years is due to the level of talent and not the coach. I do not think Prinipal Carney realizes this. In the skilled sports of football and basketball, Lakeside just does not have enough athletes to compete with the Richmond county schools. Blaming coach Hill and firing him is not the answer.Flag

Name: Arjun Sebastian on Jan 21, 2007Comments: It seems that Lakeside has forgotten that the real job of a coach at a high school is to mentor student athletes. Apparently the administration thinks that records matter more than loyalty and service. What a great example the school is setting for its young people.Flag
