In the year 1779, Thomas Jefferson who was a liberal proposed a law that involved the castration of a gay man, and the mutilation of nose cartilage for a gay women. The scary thing in this time period was that death was the most common penalty. It was until 224 years later that the supreme courts finally ended criminalizing same sex intercourse. Unfortunately this didn’t stop state and federal law makers from targeting Lesbian, and Gay people with “draconian legislation and hateful rhetoric”. In 1951, the first National Gay Rights Organization was founded so gay and lesbian couples could start pushing back.

Some of the current issues are things like LGBT Parenting, LGBT Relationships, LGBT Youth, LGBT Nondiscrimination Protections, and Transgender Rights.

There have been social scientists who have studied LGBT parenting and have found no problems with it. Welfare experts who have also done studies on the matter and still have found nothing wrong.
