This petition strives to encourage the passage of anti-discrimination protection ordinances for the LGBT community in the city of El Paso, Texas, for the following areas: Employment (prevent harassment or job termination); Housing (prevent house denial and eviction); Loans (prevent loan denial); Education (prevent denial of access to education); Federally funded programs (prevent denial of access to these programs). There are no consistent state laws in Texas protecting the LGBT community from discrimination in the previously mentioned areas. Thus far, only a few cities have taken steps to incorporate such protections for the LGBT community, including Forth Worth and Houston. El Paso should be next. The petition will be presented in conjunction with a proposal to the El Paso City council within the next few weeks.

I use to believe that my home was a place of comfort and saftey. I want to be able to feel that once again.
If LGBT people have to pay taxes, they are entitled to the same rights as the rest of the tax paying population.
Everyone deserves the right to pursue ones happiness even if it means being with someone if the same sex. I myself am not homosexual but I highly encourage people to be them selves.
no one should be discriminated against for housing, employment, and loans just for who they are and who they are attracted to.
I'm lucky enough to live in a place where I will not be as discriminated against because of my orientation, and this should be true for all people.

"All men are created equal." Unless you're gay. Or black. Or a woman. Let's change that, okay? I'm signing this to get protections for my LGBT brethren.
