5 years ago Comments: Am i the only one who thinks L1 is overrated, soulless and lacks any character whatsoever..novelty has already worn off for me. (toilets are great and L1 chippy fab..but ) The only two shops i use regularly, HMV and WHS are inferior to the stores they replaced.. fact ! The old George Henry Lees store and Blacklers had charm and people seemed happy to work there. Lewis's is now an 'oasis' for the more decerning mature shopper .. and even that is to go ! If Liverpool hadn't been touched by sixties redevelopment/pedestrianisation /the spoiling of Clayton Square.. my theory is that it would still be perfectly usable today. I mean , three main bus stations in fifty years ! The Lewis's building should be restored to it's former glory...a bit of class for the people who still appreciate what that is ! Town is town.. villages are villiages....dear me !
