Comments: I gave birth to my first daughter at Lewisham Hospital and had amazing care. (I had to stay in for a week). I do not know how people will manage if they have to go miles away from home - there is no sense in this, and absolutely no benefit to the local community.

Comments: My sister was run over by a car in 2000 and if it had not been for Lewisham A&E we may not have had her here today. Closing the A&E or the maternity unit (where I had an emergency caesarean in 2004) would be a disaster and would put thousands of people at risk. We cannot allow it to happen.

Comments: Lewisham A&E saved my son's life when he was knocked down aged 14 years. It was a busy Saturday afternoon and to have transported him to the alternative hospitals on equally busy roads may have ended catastrophically. I am a Registered Nurse and implore you to keep Lewisham A&E department fully functioning as a much valued and needed department for the population of Lewisham. I have also had 3 of my children at Lewisham and would recommend their maternity provision to all expectant mothers, the care both I and my children received was exceptional.

Comments: saving Lewisham Hospital is the only rational thing to do. Otherwise the community accelerates deeper into deprivation, and all the ills that go with it.

Comments: My partner had a heart attack in November 2012 and was collected from Catford and taken to Lewisham A&E by ambulance. He was treated so well and professionally by all departments before receiving life-saving surgery for his condition. My partner has long-term conditions which involve several out-patient appointments at the hospital. It makes no sense to make him travel further on very congested roads - namely the South Circular - to attend these follow-up appointments. Lewisham hospital should remain open for the sake of the Borough's residents.
