    Comments: The lack of consultation and complete indifference to public opinion on this is outrageous. While millions are spent elsewhere to bail out failing banks, successful and much loved community hospitals are scrapped to save face elsewere. Why? A child could see it makes no sense. A child could see the injustice. How dare Jeremy Hunt do this to Lewisham. He has done himself and his party an unforgivable diservice. May they never again be given the power to treat the public with such disregard again.

    Comments: These plans are unacceptable. They will cost lives, especially the lives of women in labour and their babies, as they will have to travel too far for emergency care. Children's lives will also be lost due to the closure of the paediatric A and E and the time taken to get to the nearest hospital, which will be overrun and unable to cope.

    Comments: Closure of the A&E unit to serious acute health problems will cause deaths given the much longer time to arrive at alternative hospitals. It will undermine safe maternity care in the area as well. Lewisham hospital is not the problem - the pfi contracts for Woolich and Farnborough need challenging.

    Comments: I am due to give birth in Lewisham in July and want (both for myself and all other mothers in the future) the reassurance of onsite facilities and personnel in case of an emergency or complications rather than being forced into a potentially dangerous ambulance trip elsewhere.
