Name: Sharon Winney on Jan 26, 2013Comments: I gave birth to both my beautiful girls there, my husband & a lot of his family were born or treated at Lewisham Hospital. You could say its got a lot of history - yes it has - its part of MY families history! It is so very wrong to take this away from the local people. I no longer live near it BUT choose to travel to be treated there by a consultant. It is CRUCIAL that this hospital is kept open - how can the government spend so much money modenising it and then shut it down? Crazy crazy country, so much money wasted on non essential "PC" . Stop administration & start caring again! Make the NHS something to be proud if again - starting with LEWISHAM HOSPITAL!!!Flag

Both hospitals are needed and the investment already made must be protected. It is simple common sense!Flag

Name: Rebecca Trivett on Jan 26, 2013Comments: Lewisham hospital could not do enough for me during the birth of my son .The birthing centre was an amazing place to give birth , lovely staff and fantastic facilities . If you close this maternity ward and a & e department , it will put a major strain on surrounding hospitals that are already over stretched and too far for local residents to travel to Woolwich or Camberwell . It will be a scandal to close this hospital .Flag

Name: Dr John Howard Wheeler on Jan 26, 2013Comments: The Secretary of State if he has any insight into the needs of the Lewisham residents should;understand that there will be enormous suffering and potential deaths if the recently rebuilt A and E department at their hospital is closed along with its maternity unit to fund the fianancial deficit created by the mismanagement by the trust administering hospitals sited on Woolwich Commom and Farnborough near Bromley by using the PFI scheme. Closure of Lewsiham A and E will also put a serious overload on the A and E department at Kings College Hospital which is currently over subscribed as well as its Maternity Unit. Common sense must prevail and the Governemnt must find alternative funds to cover the pernicious PFI scheme's outlandish demands for high interest repaymemt of their capital loanFlag
