Comments: Utter madness and stupidity from the men in suits! This would put many lives at risk. Have you tried getting from Lewisham to Woolwich, particularly at busy times?! How will using a fleet of helicopters save money because thats the only way?! You can bet none of the decision makers are exposing their loved ones to this extreme danger proposed by living in the Lewsiham area. Was born there, been to A&E and has been essential to my families well being for generations!

Comments: To close a brand new state-of-the-art A and E department in a heavily populated area seems absolute madness. Other alternatives must be considered. Big danger that closing the hospital will ost as much as leaving it alone.

Comments: DO NOT CLOSE LEWISHAM A&E. It is high performance, cost effective and is central to Catford, Lewisham, Hither Green, Deptford, Grove Park, Lee to name but a few surrounding areas. I live between Catford and Hither Green and if I had to go further than Lewisham A&E I would have died from a bust appendix. LEAVE LEWISHAM HOSPITAL ALONE.

Comments: I feel strongly against the closure of Lewisham Hospital. I feel strongly against the large "super hospitals" they do not work from my personal experience as they are unable to provide good patient experience and care.

Comments: The closure of the maternity unit (and A&E) must not go ahead. It is one of the very best (probably the best) in London. Closure would mean chaos in already overstretched services in the other units in south east London - this is from my own personal, and professional experience. There is always another option, and (Conservative) politicians should put more energy into exploring this. I hope that the health minister makes the right decision in the end - for the health and welfare of those living in Lewisham and surrounding catchment neighbourhoods, and for the hard-working, dedicated, teams working in these units. Mr Cameron should realise that the NHS survives largely on the 'good will' of its employees. If they make wrong decision about Lewisham, he only serves to corrode the essence of the NHS further.

Comments: Lewisham Hospital is not in debt, and should not be FORCED to take on a hospital which is in debt, and then be FORCED to close its A&E and Maternity Unit - it is FARCICAL. This is not sensible government

Comments: I gave birth to both my beautiful girls there, my husband & a lot of his family were born or treated at Lewisham Hospital. You could say its got a lot of history - yes it has - its part of MY families history! It is so very wrong to take this away from the local people. I no longer live near it BUT choose to travel to be treated there by a consultant. It is CRUCIAL that this hospital is kept open - how can the government spend so much money modenising it and then shut it down? Crazy crazy country, so much money wasted on non essential "PC" . Stop administration & start caring again! Make the NHS something to be proud if again - starting with LEWISHAM HOSPITAL!!!
