   Comments: I feel it it a big mistake to close Lewisham A&E and reduce maternity services. Many of my local friends and I use Lewisham A&E rather than Queen Elizabeth (despite being further away) because it's reputation is so much better. It seems criminal to close part of a good well-run highly ranked hospital because of the failings of another hospital, especially when the problems with QEH stem in part from the huge payments necessary under the PFI scheme. I realise that some action needs to be taken but strongly believe that people's health will be put at serious risk by the proposals. The right thing to do would be to address the PFI contracts instead of reducing patient care. The hospitals surrounding Lewisham are already often at capacity so I can't believe it makes sense to anyone that they could absorb the extra patients. Even if staffing were increased the extra beds are not available.

    Comments: We had excellent maternity support and care from Lewisham Hospital which is exactly what you need from a good local hospital rather than one situated numerous bus rides away from where you actually live.
