Name: Graham Benjamin on Jan 20, 2013Comments: The proposed change would appear to be driven by the needs of a neighbouring trust, with no accompanying cinsideration of Lewisham's cutlasses situation and needs. To arbitrarily close facilities and successful provision at Lewisham's is contrary to natural justice and, probably, illegal. I urge the Secretary of State to set aside this misconceived proposal.Flag

The budget deficit has nothing to do with Lewisham hospital and should not be used as an excuse to damage a good and efficient service.Flag

Comments: A few years ago I experienced major burns to 30 percent of my body. It is only because I was able to get to casualty quickly and locally that I recovered. Had I needed to travel the hour long journey to Woolwich, the delayed treatment would have left me permanently disfigured preventing me from pursuing my dream of a career on the West End stage. The consequences of accidental injury and acute illness will be serious following the closure of Lewisham A&E: people will be left permanently injured or dead.Flag -

Name: Benedict Freeburn on Jan 20, 2013Comments: To whom it may concern, I'm disgusted and appalled that you believe cutting this national health establishment is an acceptable policy. Austerity measures are by no means proven to work and closing down a hospital in such a large borough, after the considerable recent investment, seems to me beyond absurd. Apparently you intend moving resources to Woolwich, which i have been informed does not have the capacity for aforementioned resources - a tad idiotic. It seems interesting that you are choosing to close a hospital in Lewisham, which is a safe labour borough. Your policies have made concrete in my mind the belief that the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties are very much out of touch with the population as a whole, if we have bed shortages in all the NHS hospitals why then would you close down sections of another. Myself, my family and friends have all benefitted from the care of Lewisham hospital and in particular its A and E department, this closure is further proof that your coalition government is unable to keep its promise of protecting front line services. I would not say i agree with the Labour party policies, but i would certainly say you as politicians are "wastemen" and have no right to the office you now hold.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 20, 2013Comments: It is alleged that it will take only seven minutes more to travel to the replacement A&E; this is beyond ridiculous and I definitely feel that the proposed change will cause deaths that could be avoided if Jeremy Hunt wasn't such a prick.Flag

Name: Denise Senner on Jan 20, 2013Comments: My son was permanently disabled in a tragic motorbike accident two years ago and still requires treatment today, he often has extreme episodes of pain which can result in fatality at any given time. if he does not get immediate treatment, i wouldn't like to think of the consequences, which would happen if he had to travel the hour journey to the closest Aand E, which the government is suggesting that he does. there are worse cases then this im sure, shutting lewisham A and E is handing out a death sentence to all its inhabitants, sounds like a really thought through plan...Flag
