Comments: This hospital saved the life of my sister and her baby. Why do so-called government 'experts' only think of the money aspect and not the community the hospital serves?

Comments: I live in the catchment area of the south London healthcare trust. When my husband was rushed to hospital in need of urgent ENT care, he had to go to Lewisham where excellent care in first A &E and then the ENT ward was given. Equivalent care was not available at Princess Royal. if a similar situation occurred after the proposed closure of Lewisxham's A&E, where would he have gone, 15 miles to Guys? Princess Royal was one of the many hospitals built with PFI financing when Labour came to power. This was to attempt to respond to a huge need for new hospital facilities after 18 years of neglect of such during the last conservative admiistration. PFI was a short-sighted and now financially damaging attermpt to rectify this appalling neglect by the previous adminstration. Civil Service warnings of the likely damage of PFI as it was structured, were ignored.

Comments: As a Democratic country, our wishes should be taken into account, in this case NOT TO CLOSE LEWISHAM A&E AND MATERNITY UNITS . During several years this Hospital has spent millions to renovate these units ,and you will be throwing money down the drain. Lewisham Hospital is very well located to serve a massive area of population. Moving these services to the new proposed location will cause great problems to the area to solve financial problems in other units caused by mismanagement that has nothing to do with Lewisham.

Comments: This is absolutely foolhardy and monstrous! I have lived in this borough for 40 years and Lewisham Hospital has served us well in every emergencies.I am amazed any intelligent person would even think of closing these vital services from an area covering heart of London emergencies. I am appalled and wonder where this country is heading and why I as a tax payer has no say in the matter.

Comments: To deprive this large community of it's lifeblood would be to punish a successful NHS hospital at the expense others that have failed. What message does does this send out?.The success has been a built up by people who care throughout the history of this hospital and binds it's diverse community together. The effect of this decision if taken, would distroy this achievement and have far reaching implications on the future of south east London on so many levels. This must not happen!

Comments: Whilst I understand that books have to balance, I don't feel public and medical professional views are being taken into consideration. Having invested so much money on the premises, having a good, local A&E unit, and all the other endangered services is essential. Surely some other rationalisation of services can be undertaken.
