Comments: Why should residents of Lewsham suffer a loss in vital services, with surrounding areas facing overburden because of a terrible PFI deal entered into by a different Trust? It is completely unfair. The government should address the disastrous legacy of PFI instead of depriving residents in an already deprived area of much needed resources.

Comments: I am very strongly against this illogical proposal which in my view is unethical alongside an inefficient use of money to rellocate a very good effective A&E department to service a debt (which as I understand it is not actually Lewisham's debt but South London's Health Trust's debt). This government does not have the democratic mandate to take these kind of radical actions and I will be marching on Saturday to exercise my democratic right to protest.

Comments: This scheme means a lot of money will be spent changing faciities; leading to a poor borough supporting a richer borough so that in a few years (if not sooner!), more will have to be provided in Lewisham again because there will be a chronic shortage of A&E and Maternity in Lewisham. Madness! And unforgivable.... it is a 'quick fix' solution. Bromley council were looking for a quick fix with PFI and should pay for their own past mistakes. I am a Bromley resident.

Comments: So Mr Kershaw has to find £260m to pay off the debt of the South London Health Trust, and is prepared to spend a further £195m, crippling Lewisham Hospital in the process ... so where is he going to find the £195m he needs to spend? Is he proposing to shut down the rest of Lewisham Hospital??

Comments: Mr.Hunt's plans are designed for political reasons as part of privatisation which will increase costs and reduce quality of care. A and E is the place where desperate people can go 24 hours a day now OOH GP services are so weak.
