   Comments: It is unacceptable to close a busy emergency department and acute medical service because a neighbouring hospital is in debt. This is a service that taxpayers have paid for to care for people, not a business that can be closed if unprofitable. The reconfiguration will cost almost as much as the original debt.

    Comments: I was born in Lewisham hospital. I needed Lewisham hospital on a number of occasions during my childhood and beyond. My parents, who have lived in Lewisham for over 45 years, need Lewisham hospital. The residents of Lewisham need Lewisham hospital. Closing it in an attempt to solve the problems of a trust to which Lewisham does not even belong is beyond nonsensical. It is ethically moribund. Leave it alone.

    Comments: How are all the people who will need to use it in the borough going to reach Woolwich hospital in time in an emergency? I wonder how many deaths will result if Lewisham closes. I don't understand how there is any justification for closing the hospital. I gave birth to my son at Lewisham and there were many serious complications. Perhaps one or both of us may have died had it not been for the expertise of particular staff members at this hospital.

The QE hospital at Woolwich is already serving a large population and I am sure the people of Lewisham are, rightly, outraged by the prospect of the new and costly Lewisham A&E being sacrificed for no good reason
