Name: Desmond John Hegarty on Dec 13, 2012Comments: Having used the services of A&E and having my first grandchild born prematurely at Lewisham, I know that to have had to trtavel further would have been problematic . Lewisham needs this centre of excellence for the local community. It is also a complete waste of money to have refurbished and upgraded the hospital only fro key departments to be closedwithin such a short period.Flag

Name: Frances Gosling on Dec 13, 2012Comments: The population of Lewisham has increased from 248,922 to 275,900 between 2001 and 2011 according to census information.Lewisham is the fourth largest inner London Borough. The population is forecast to increase by another 11,000 by 2015.How can it be an improvement in patient care to close the A and E and maternity units at Lewisham?Flag

Name: Martin Bentham on Dec 13, 2012Comments: I particularly oppose the closure of Lewisham's A&E because I believe that the health of some future patients will suffer as a result of travelling further to Woolwich or another A&E department.Flag

Name: Sinem Faikoglu on Dec 13, 2012Comments: I think it is an outrage that these 2 cruical wards for such a vast community may close. We should not have to suffer for the fault of others. It is ridiculous to think that 1 hospital will be able to cater for all of Lewisham residents. Please please do not close our AnE and Maternity services, as consequences will be terrible!!!!Flag

Name: Claire Flynn on Dec 13, 2012Comments: It seems ridiculous to close down an almost brand-new facility and disadvantage the most vulnerable local residents. Yet again, the general public and more particularly the most needy members of society will suffer.Flag

Name: Colin Cook on Dec 13, 2012Comments: I have lived in Lewisham all my life. My entire family have a long standing relationship/arrangement with lewisham hospital in terms of births and death. My immediate children were born at Lewisham. I pay exorbitant tax. Why? The suggestion of A&E/maternity closure is out of tune with what the people want. The government work for the people and must listen. Failure to listen will just fuel the fire of unrest in lewisham. So stupidity in this instance must be removed. Lewisham A&E/Maternity department must keep it's place now and in the future.Flag

Name: Gemma Crozier on Dec 13, 2012Comments: If Lewisham hospital was to close, all residents would have to travel much too far to reach an A&E department. The closure will put lives at risk and is not acceptable. We all contribute towards the NHS and all residents in the UK should have access to an A&E department within the borough they live in.Flag

Name: MILOSZ OGONEK on Dec 13, 2012Comments: It's really hard to comment on this one :( Couple of years ago I was saved by great paramedics and doctors on Lewisham A&E, without them and without Lewisham Hospital A&E I would quite likely die that day. It all does not make any sense, what is the point of investing money and upgrading wards just to shut them down and sell out some time later. And how can you leave residents of one of the biggest boroughs in London without so much needed specialist NHS care.Flag

The crew didn't have the facilities to help her. If the hospital was a further 10 minutes away, she would have died. Losing Lewisham A&E will cost lives.Flag
