Name: Sally Rowe on Oct 29, 2012Comments: I have grave concerns regarding the proposed changes to emergency care provision at Lewisham Hospital as outlined in today's draft report. As the matron for critical care, the proposals mean the end of critical care as we know it. Since December 2011 we have been virtually in excess of 100% occupied and no where in the draft proposal is there any mention of where these services will go ..... I have an amazing team who provide high standards of care to the most critically ill patients in the hospital and to this end, I wonder what considerations have been made for the provision of critical care in the future, the emphasis thus far has been on the closure or rather reconfiguration of emergency care provision but the effects are far reaching and yet not mentioned. Please ensure that the impact on those local patients that are critically ill are considered in all future proposals as it is my understanding that the QE does not have the capacity to sustain the service provision we currently provide. Sadly, I expect an exodus of my excellent staff to other organisations for fear of the future, morale will undoubtedly be affected and this is a sad consequence of the climate as it stands right now and I feel I cannot offer any reassurance to my staff for fear of the unknown. I would sincerely like to invite Matthew Kershaw to visit the excellent facilities he proposes to change, and compare them to the facilities he propose they go to ...... there simply is NO comparison.Flag

Name: Robin Bray-Hurren on Oct 29, 2012Comments: That Lewisham A&E was renovated recently, and this is entirely because of the financial state of the PCT and nothing to do with patient care is vile. People will die, or have avoidable impairment due to the increased times it's going to take to get them to hospital by ambulance - that is criminal.Flag

Where it is accessible to all, not just to those with cars or the means to conjure up a £20 cab fare to get to Queen Elizabeth at the drop of a hat in the midst of an emergency.Flag
