   Comments: My son was born in Lewisham hospital and the maternal care was amazing. Lewisham is a huge area without maternal or a+E it would put the lives of it's residents in jepordy

    Comments: Any other A&E unit is a long way from Lewisham, which would cause delays in treatment which in some cases could prove fatal.

    Comments: Punishing the residents of Lewisham for problems in other NHS trusts is crazy. As shown with the new proposals for Queen Mary Sidcup, losing an A&E can be the first step to winding down a hospital entirely. With a growing population already suffering from health inequalities, Lewisham cannot afford to lose such vital services.

    Comments: Sheer lunacy, a massive teaching hospital in an area of London with such high population without an A+E is ludicrous. My daughter was born there almost 14 years ago and was very happy with the care and proffesionalism.

    Comments: They have just spent so much money on the new A&E !! Plus Queen Mary's Sidcup does not have a 24hour A&E and Princess Royal and Kings College are already stretched to the limits

    Comments: A decision that fills me with horror and revulsion, taken without a scintila of thought to patient welfare in an area of expanding population. The people of Lewisham are being made to pay the debts of other areas and the insidious costs of the private finance initiatives which are crippling our public services.

    Comments: This beggers belief... this hospital has been recently refurbished, is a teaching hospital and Queen Elisabeth Hospital in Woolwich, itself is undergoing £100million of cuts in 5 years (the administrator had already announced this to staff), is alreday full and on divert....

    Comments: The whole notion of closing such a newly refurbished and succesful A&E is insane and an NHS trust going bust is the price of falling for the PFI scam. I'm sorry? Do I live in Bexley, Bromley or Greenwich. No. So why are we losing services for another Health Authority stupidly falling for the Toriy PFI con and going broke?
