Limiting recess is limiting creativity, problem solving skills, opportunities for interpersonal skills and the creation of new friendships outside of the homeroom. I would like my children to survive happily in the 21st century with the fundamental, lifelong personal tools learned on a playground: Let him / her feel successful creating a new game, new rules, new roles, new characters and having others join in. For many who struggle academically it may be the only chance all day to take respite from struggle and allow confidence to blossom. I will not accept restricted recess for my children. There must be other ways of increasing academic performance. I support the high standard of teaching at this school but feel that restricting recess is a backwards step for creating well rounded, balanced and successful children. Please join this effort to "Let Them Play Everyday"

PTO meeting will be held at Bedminster School 6:30pm on Tuesday Sept 17th in Room 315.  Please try to be present.

Updates

September 16, 2013

The school administration keeps ignoring our demand for daily recess but this surge in support proves they cannot silence us forever. We are building the pressure needed to force them to listen and put our children's well-being above their rigid academic experiments.

STOP TAKING AWAY RECESS. It is pathetic that the school thinks this is the way to improve grades.

totally agree. recess is when they learn conflict resolution and how to actually interact with other people. you dont get that from a workbook.

These kids sit at desks all day long. They need to burn off energy or they just get restless and cant focus anyway. Common sense.
