The people of Kenya for a long time have suffered in the hands of political leaders who misuse the power vested upon them by the people. They have perpetuated a culture of impunity, which has devastated this nation. Pio Gama Pinto was assassinated in 1965, no political leaders were brought to book, yet the murder was political. Oginga Oginga, Achieng Oneko and Bildad Kagia were pushed to the political periphery because of oppossing land grabbing and nepotism in the government. Ronald Ngala the political Coastal star was killed in unexplainable accident. Tom Joseph Mboya and Jm Kariuki succumbed to political assassinations. No one has been held responsible. In the early 80's, there was the Wagalla massacre, justice is yet to be done. Robert Ouko fell by the assassin's bullet in 1990, two score years later, no body has been prosecuted. Come 1992 we had the first tribal clashes. The tension went a notch higher and final a mini genocide took place in Kenya in 2007/2008. Investigations have revealed that over 20 politicians were responsible. These are powerful people in the corridors of power. Moreno Ocampo has gathered enough evidence for 6 of such people, most still serving in the governement. Can the government prosecute itself locally? Why haven't previous political killings been addressed? These people are powerful and wealth and can bribe any black African judge, prosecutor or lawyer and even kill whoever might reisist their wish. Impunity has gone deeper into the Kenyan society. Justice can not be done under the government made up of the same suspects. If we want peace in Kenya, if we want true reconcilation and forgiveness, justice must prevail. If the charges were farbricated flimsy, the truth will be known and the suspects will be let free. The judges at the Hague are not politically appointed. So why do the suspects fear th Hague? Thus, let the post election violence victims and the suspects get justice at the Hague not here in Kenya. We are yet to overcome impunity. We even haven't agreed on the Chief Justice, the DPP and the Attorney General whose offices are crucial. We request you to sign this petition that The Hague Is The Only Solution for Justice.
