The looming Congressional/Presidential battle over the expiration of the Bush era tax cuts threatens to stall the government in partisan bickering. While no one seems to disagree that the middle class tax cut should be extended, the fight over continuing the tax cuts for just 2% of Americans will be too divisive. Everyone knows the Federal Government is in dire financial straits. We are still involved in 2 wars, with hundreds of thousands of troops engaged in Iraq and Afghanistan. When we went to war, we were never asked to make any sacrifices to support the effort of our troops on two theaters of war. These wars have cost the government and tax payers over $1 TRILLION. So far we have borrowed to pay for these wars. This is unpatriotic and un-American. For the good of the country, to support our troops and our war efforts overseas, allow all the Bush era tax cuts to expire so we can pay for our wars.
