Dear BYUK Management Team,

We acknowledge receipt of the final draft New Employment Contract dated 5th December 2013. As proposed in this letter, we would like to hereby notify you that we do object to it.

The number of people who are prepared not to sign the new employment contract (or sign it but leave within 3 months) is very high, as presented in the recent BEST Survey.

During the BEST process and from time to time, we have raised our concerns to you to make you aware of the key changes that will be affecting us, including:

- Loss of the GMC cover or option to join the GMC with no similar alternative on offer. This affects families the most;

- Loss of the “Income Protection” insurance that BYUK was providing with no similar alternatives on offer. The concerns include those of Employees who have entered into a mortgage on the basis of this provision.

We would like to think that we have been a contributing factor to the success of BYUK over the past years. We feel that the changes to the employee’s benefits mentioned above will have a detrimental effect on BYUK’s performance in the coming years and will, in the long term, be counter-productive. We also believe that the proposed changes are going against the core values of The Bouygues Group that promote loyalty, care for the family and reward for performance.

We have tried to raise these messages on numerous occasions and have made a number of proposals to try to address the potentially divergent positions of efficiency and the impact on employees, and in particular those who have contributed the most to Bouygues UK. Unfortunately, so far we have only seen slow movement.

We believe the solution to the above two items is:

- On GMC Private Medical Insurance, to offer a comparable insurance, a salary increase to cover the cost of an individual to subscribe individually to a PMI of the same level or an ongoing yearly reimbursement of the premium payable

- On Permanent Health Insurance, to ring-fence this benefit for BYUK employees so that they do not lose it in the new employment contract

We are asking for a meeting with the top management team to discuss further.

Regards,

Share for Success
