We need to advocate green infrastructure stormwater solutions such as green roofs, and rain gardens to successfully minimize the amount of waste along our storm drains.Polluted stormwater degrades our lakes, rivers, wetlands and other waterways. Nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen can cause the overgrowth of algae, and therefore lead to toxic substances that can kill fish and other aquatic life. Storm water pollution affects our economy by costing money for beach cleanups and even reducing the amount of tourism around the beaches. As no one really wants to spend their time nor money in a place thats filled with trash.
