With the announcement of an add-on that allows the Wii U to use GameCube controllers, it is odd why Nintendo never made the system backward compatible with actual game discs. Instead, they promised that there would be GC games available to download from the Virtual Console, yet nothing has been announced yet. Those who have emulated/homebrewed/hacked their Wii U systems have found that they easily play Wii U ISO.
So why won't Nintendo make a GameCube Wii U channel for the home menu with a virtual memory card and software emulation to play GC discs, similar to the later, fat 80gb PS3 models with downloadable patches to play PS2 games. I believe if we get enough signatures form those who own a Wii U or those who want to see GC on Wii U as to buy one, we can see this marvel of the purple (or black/silver) cube appear fully on a current gen system. Hopefully our cries will be answered and we will have our ultimate Nintendo console.
