Comments: I agree that we need to make our schools safer for our children, but to lock them out until 7:55am is not the answer.

Comments: I am not understanding why it would be safer for such a large group of children to be out on the playground with a few adults to supervise them. Wouldn't it be safer for them to be in school and in their classrooms Why not have the supervision in the halls and have the kids go from the buses directly to their classrooms. Am I suppose to dress my children in snowpants, hats, mittens, have them sit on a bus for 40 minutes The kids are to be let in early if there is inclement weather, what is being considered inclement I have received nothing stating how cold or stormy it has to be to be let in. Why is the Middle or High school not enforcing this

Comments: I can not believe that the school implemented a new policy without consulting the parents or asking for input. One of my children is on safety patrol and has no where to put his belongings until 7:55 and has to be in his assigned position prior to 7:40. I also, do not like dropping my children off in back now because I can not see where they are going. Which now causes me to drop them off in front which I know they do not want. What about the winter months. All of these children now have to stand out in the cold/wet/rainy weather until 7:55. I am not sure who came up with this idea but it was not well thought out at all. What about the days when the students need to bring in items for class that do NOT fit in a back pack! They are not laying on the ground. My idea is that, there should be one monitor in front for the buses and one monitor in back for the kids being dropped off and it should start at 7:35. If volunteers are needed to monitor these doors then ask for them. I for one would be more then willing to monitor a door if need be. You only had to ask!

Comments: I agree with making the schools safe for the children but I do not agree with making them wait on the playground during the winter months. It's my understanding that you also do not want them to wonder the halls or be in the classrooms due to teachers not being available. Instead, why not allow them to enter through the front doors only and have them directed to the two gymnasiums They can always take off there shoes/boots.

Comments: The policy is less about safety due to school shootings and more about people who were not following the 7:45 drop off policy. People were leaving kids unattended at school as early as 7. This is the main cause of the new rule. Now we need to be concerned with the chaos of morning drop offs with cars going in all directions, near accidents, cross walks, busses, u-turns, etc. and no proper flow of traffic. There is a better solution. I have made several such suggestions to the principal and to Mr Reinke without much impact. An open discussion of all actual issues needs to occur so we can seek first to understand and then proceed to apply an acceptable policy that works well for everyone's convenience and safety.

Comments: In my opinion, the main doors should be open as soon as the 1st bus arrives. That would take care of the matter of children being in the school before that time. There is a major safety concern going on right now, with people waiting until the last minute to drop children off, because they don't want them outside in the morning vs. busses dropping children off. The back doors are no longer open for drop off, so now everyone is dropping off in the front, it is an accident waiting to happen. Please don't let this continue until a tragedy occurs. Assign the 2 people who are currently on the playground at the main entrance to assist parents in signing in, and at door D letting only children /teachers in and directing parents to use the main entrance. It is a simple solution, and will keep everyone safe.

Comments: When I attended Elementary/Middle school, (at that time it is was K-8) we arrived at school and waited in the front lobby or in the gym until the gates were opened to go down the halls. Whatever happened to that policy

Comments: If for safety - it is safer for our children to be inside not out. This age of children can not be expected to all enter "safely" and get all necessities done in 5 minutes (or let's face it less than 5 once they all actually get in)

Comments: As the notice sent from school stated, this policy was implemented for the safety of our children. When in fact they would be safer in the school. I do agree with the policy to have all doors locked at all times, with the exception of the main doors. If the other doors are left open, an adult should be there monitoring them. However, I do not agree with keeping our children outside once they arrive at school. If the purpose of the children not being allowed into the school until 7:55 is to contain them all in one area for effective monitoring, then allow them to come into the gym. They would be much safer, not to mention a whole lot warmer!

Comments: I feel it is less safe for our children to be outside the building until 7:50 than to be in the building. In my opinion, the teachers and school staff are responsible for the actions of a select few children who are misbehaving and causing problems.
