So, theres a nasty little rumor going around, saying that mr. schaffer dosnt really want to approve the LUHS jazz band's annual trip to the burlington discover jazz festival. So, we need to do all we can to convince him to let them go. The burlington discover jazz festival means SO much to the jazz band. First of all, it gives us pride. Playing for your peers and for parents feels good, but playing at this huge festival gives us an incredible amount of confidence, and it allows us to feel that we DO have something that we're good at, and can be proud of. Second of all, it is SUCH a great bonding experience. I dont know what it is about the band bus, but trips like this really allow us to bond as a band, and as individuals. AND a closer band equals a better band. Another pride thing; it is an INCREDIBLE feeling to be able to do what you love, while representing your school. Jazz band is no different than basketball, baseball, or lacross in our ability to feel school pride. THIS IS LANCER PRIDE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT POSSIBLE. The festival allows us to feel pride in ourselves, our peers, and our school. Lastly, this is something we work REALLY hard for. It gives us something to look forward to. After our concert in april, we have almost two months of school left, and if we have no jazz festival, we have no jazz band. TWO MONTHS. If we have nothing to prepare for, we have NOTHING. What's the point of coming to rehearsals if we have nothing to rehearse for? Without the jazz festival, there is no jazz band, and for some of us, that means ALOT. So, we CANT let schaffer keep us from going. We need to get as many people as possible to sign this petition to make sure that we can go.
