Gilles Peterson Radio One Show is about to be axed by the powers that be at the BBC. We the lovers of music rooted in the jazz tree are apalled by this decision and shocked that our heritage could be denied us. Peterson has been instrumental in the British and Global Jazz scene for many years. From Dingwalls, Kiss FM, Talking Loud to Brownswood Recordings. This music has given much inspiration and solace to many people. Dance culture has benefited from the floor technicians on Peterson's dancefloors spurning Irving Lewis and Jazzcotech who have gone on to teach and develope the artform. The Peterson show is vital in the employment of musicians who chose to make more experimental music that in turn quietly allows other not so visionary musicians to take risks to challenge the listeners. We the listeners see this as such a serious denial of our musical rights that we are prepared to stop paying our licence fee if this obviously misguided programming is not reversed.
