   Comments: Two and a half hours seem a bit short for 'Les Miserables'. There are too many abrupt scene changes, making this film seem more like a video-taped version of a large-scale stage production. Everything before "1832, Paris" seems quite rushed. If this was a 3 hour+ movie, the narrative and the scene changes would've flowed a lot more smoothly. And this film would've been a lot better than it is. Message to Tom Hooper: Don't employ Danny Cohen as a cinematographer if you're doing a musical. His style might've worked for 'The King's Speech', but it doesn't work well for a musical. This film would've "looked" great, if you had someone like Emmanuel Lubezki as a cinematographer, whose smooth, fluid, and free-flowing style of cinematography (combined with those gorgeous wide-angled shots) would've worked beautifully well for 'Les Miserables'. I don't mind the Dutch angles, but the extreme close-ups of the actors' faces, and the abrupt cutting to different scenes are (according to me) the main reasons for most of the criticism that this film is receiving.

    Comments: There MUST be an extended cut of LES MIS. I'm basically always pro extended cuts (of brilliant movies, of course) - but I've never before signed a petition for that reason. But LES MIS... I haven't seen it yet, but I already think this movie is it absolutely worth to be released as DVD in extended cut. If there is so much material of something amazing - the world should see it! :)
