We the undersigned petitions fully support the early parole of Bernard J. LeGeros (DIN# 85A7225) for the following reasons.
I. Bernard LeGeros has served 22 years of his 25 to life sentence for his conviction of second degree murder.
During his incarceration he has maintained a positive attitude and has not committed any serious infractions. Nor has he ever had any conflict with either staff members or other inmates. He has tried to help other inmates with problems (e.g. finding lodging for a handicapped inmate when he was to be released).
During his incarceration he has completed his college education at his own expense He has attended every therapeutic program offered that addresses the reasons for his incarceration. He has tried to work with others and make a positive difference in the lives of the people around him.
II. The Case itself
We do not seek in any way to diminish the seriousness of the crime nor to undermine respect for the law.
We are fully aware (as is Bernard) that he took part in a string of events that ended in the tragic death of Mr. Egil Vesti. Up until that incident, Bernard had never committed any crime
Despite the public promise made by District Attorney Gribitz to the Vesti family that he would to justice all those involved, he only pursued the case only against Bernard. It is not clear whether this is because D.A. Gribitz was afraid that further investigation into the case would reveal his own involvement in tabooed sexual activity (as was later revealed) is open to question. What is clear is that he did not interview a single witness before any grand jury impaneled against Crispo, when indeed many were to be found. As all records and transcripts will reflect Bernardâ
