New Jersey has some of the strictest Gun Laws in the nation. With all the recent tragedies involving evil people with firearms there has been a large increase in gun control legislation; however NJ is on of the few states in the United States that classifies bb guns as actual firearms. This petition is to raise awareness in our political system in the hopes that we can make NJ's gun laws logically target only guns that are lethal. BB guns should not be classified as lethal weapons unless they shoot projectiles at around speeds that match actual bullets. Anything under 750 ft/second should be allowed in NJ since these do not represent any more danger than a slingshot. Which is also restricted in our state. Wanting to learn marksmanship is not a crime, but restricting our rights is. Let us raise awareness together.
