My position on cannabis in the US is to legalize it and to tax it to help grow our economy. The fact of the matter is that marijuana is safer than drinking because you cannot overdose, and every year there are around 37,000 deaths in the US from alcohol use. Marijuana doesn't even have its own category. Also Marijuana could have a great impact on the economy due to the amount that you could tax it. Also we don't have the money to fund putting people who want to smoke marijuana into prison unless we want to tax ourselves through the roof because every hour there are approximately 97.5  marijuana related arrests in the US alone. Legalizing cannabis in the United States could save billions in tax payer money and even add money by taxing it and therefore growing our economy and helping us come out of our great debt.
