We hereby petition President Barack Obama to declare September 11, 2011, the tenth anniversary of 9/11/2001, as "Legacy Day USA." Commencing on September 11, 2011, and on every September 11 thereafter, Legacy Day USA will forever be established as a time when Americans pay special tribute to those who lost their lives on that tragic day. In addition, Legacy Day USA will be a day when we all pause to cherish those we love, knowing that life can be lost in the blink of an eye. And realizing that fact, parents and grandparents will be encouraged to write legacy notes and letters to their chidlren and grandchildren each year, sharing their love for their families, as well as their wisdom and life experience. These notes and letters will become a part of their family legacy, leaving behind a foundation and tradition of family faith, hope, and love.
