According to the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) "the brain continues to mature and develop connections will into adulthood, and a person's executive function abilities are shaped by both physical changes in the brain and by life experiences, in the classroom and in the world at large. Early attention to developing efficient skills in this area can be very helpful, and a a rule, direct instruction, frequent reassurance and explicit feedback are strongly recommended."

As a parent, have you ever observed your child having difficulty starting or finishing homework? Have you ever found important school papers or assignments crumpled at the bottom of the book bag? Maybe your child performs well academically; yet seems to have difficulty keeping their room clean or catching the bus on time. Most likely your child is not being lazy or defiant (of course this can be part of the problem) but in reality your child may be experiencing some executive function deficit. Executive functioning includes working memory, emotional control, organization, time management, and attention.

I am proposing to conduct small group and individual coaching sessions that will empower kids and teens to optimize their brain, by strengthening their weaker executive functions. I will be conducting these sessions in my home, client's home, or if space is available at the Legacy clubhouse.
The company is called L3 (Legacy Learning Lab) and will be organized by a legacy park resident with 20 years experience in education as a teacher, curriculum director, and school principal.

Please sign the petition in favor of a program like Legacy Learning Lab to be available to the community.
