Name: Huck DeVenzio on Mar 16, 2010Comments: The life-cycle benefits of wood are well-established. LEED is hurting its credibility by insisting on a single certification for wood yet requiring no certification for other materials. By creating benchmarks, LEED will either supersede existing forest certification systems (if builders choose to go for LEED certification) or harm itself (if they move to other green building ratings).Flag

Name: Mike Wolff on Mar 16, 2010Comments: Certified sustainability practices should be fully recognized in all green building rating systems. This approach fully serves the green initiative and provides a credible position with recognizing the valuable role the forest products industry provides for our environment.Flag

Name: Bruce Brockway on Mar 16, 2010Comments: Please open up recognition of forest certification to include other creditable systems in addition to FSC. I have been a professional forester for over 40 years employed in the U.S. northeast and have participatedin operations audits of many large landowners who subscribed to various systems.Flag

Name: Dru Preston on Mar 16, 2010Comments: I believe that discriminating against ATFS, SFI, CSA and PEFC is unfairly cutting many small landowners and some corporate landowners out of the "Green" wood markets. There is no scientific basis or reason to exclude these certification systems or to allow one type of certification to have a monopoly on this standard.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 16, 2010Comments: My company, Rocky Top Building Products is FSC certified. The majority of the Southern Pine Millls we deal with are SFI certified. We have an increased amount of our independent contractors going Green and I feel it's vital to include SFI certified mills as part of the LEED certification. There are many more SFI certified SYP mills that can service our facilities in VA, MD and PA.Flag
