Comments: Any campaign sending a message to the marketplace limiting access to wood for one certification scheme does a disservice to our environment. As good stewards of our planet or until science finds another renewable lower impact product that accomplishes what wood can, the goal of USGBC should be to encourage the development of products, codes and standards that encourage more, “not less” wood usage…

Comments: FSC should not have a monopoly on Leed Certification. We have land in the American Tree Farm system which is managed for forestry as well as wildlife. I also belong to the American Forestry Assoc. which also advocates Sustainable Forestry.

Comments: It would seem to me to be very unfair to allow products such as steel and concrete to gain credits without certification while wood products that don't have FSC certification are deemed ineligible.

Comments: LEED awards credits for using locally harvested and manufactured resources. This cuts down on shipping expenses and wasted energy. But SFI certified wood that may be local to the project is not recognized by LEED as being a sustainable alternative to shipping FSC wood across the country or importing it from overseas? SFI has been around close to twenty years and is the international guideline for sustainable forest management. What gives?
