Name: Jack Harrison on Mar 16, 2010Comments: All credible forest certification standards should be recognized in LEED rating system. To exclude all but FSC is playing politics.Flag

Name: Robert Meier on Mar 16, 2010Comments: The LEED position of favoring FSC is causing more harm than good for the environment. I watch FSC highgrading of tropical rain forests on TV, what a loss to support FSC as the first step in clearcutting tropical rain forests while blocking environmentally sound wood production in the US. LEED needs to look at the truth about environmental practices and recognize SFI today.Flag

Name: Larry Walker on Mar 16, 2010Comments: You are running all our jobs oversees. SFI promotes jobs and sound environmental principles. It's damn time you recognize a society cannot exist if it does not make somthing, grow something or dig it out of the ground. SFI addresses making and growing sustainably. Do something for AMERICA and AMERICAN TREE FARMERS.Flag

Name: Gareth Waugh on Mar 16, 2010Comments: LEED has an opportunity here to show leadership in terms of recognizing Forest Certification Standards other than their FSC policy. Clearly North American Forests are managed at a higher level than some FSC certified products, and as such should be treated with the same weighting in regard to credit towards the LEED standard. It is embarassing that LEED is not more objective in it's assessment of Forest Certification Standards.Flag

Name: Mike Maxfield on Mar 16, 2010Comments: I agree that it does not make sense for USGBC to favour a single certification program and discount other certification programs that are equally credible. It would appear to me that this is not a good decision for North America environmentally, economically or socially.Flag

Name: Kurt Zweizig on Mar 16, 2010Comments: Trees are the only truly renewable resource. It is tragic to think that mined and energy intensive products such as steel, sheet rock and concrete are considered more environmentally friendly than wood. Let ALL recognized and independently verified certification programs into the LEED standard!Flag
