The LDSB has come out with a new policy and procedure #315, to make children (regardless of age) carry and administer their own epi-pens. I can understand this for the kids in high school, however I think this is ridilculous to be expecting of children as young as some are, or especially if one were to have a disability. Who's going to be responsible if the wrong child got their hands on it and used it to harm themselves or others? Who's going to be responsible if the child doesn't see the signs and administer it when needed and something happens? I think this policy needs to be changed to what it was, where the school nurse/secretary/teacher has responsibility for the children they're being paid to look after. If you happen to agree with me, then please sign, hopefully we can have this reversed.
