Name: Stephanie Hardy on Sep 25, 2007Comments: I will have to leave the program if this increase stands as it is. I feel that the difference between the full time fees and part time fees is unfair and shows that the school is not interested in supporting the Parent Education/ participation program.Flag

Name: Holland Brown on Sep 26, 2007Comments: Please reconsider the fees and keep these families together at the center. Our strong sense of community, diversity, and willingness to support each other and our children is what makes this place so unique. A fee hike this substantial would would ruin the culture that I have loved for the past 6 1/2 years. Let's find another solution!Flag

Name: Yolanda Salomon Lopez on Sep 26, 2007Comments: The CDC is a fantastic program and we appreciate the dedication of the staff. It is a strong possibility that we might have to leave the program because of the significant fee increase scheduled for January 2008. Please take this time to reconsider the full proposed fee hike.Flag

I just want my voice to be heard, and to receive the kind of courtesy, fairness, and respect that I feel I deserve. Thank you.Flag

Name: Laura Brim on Sep 26, 2007Comments: My child is in the parent participation program but I sympathize with the families in child care. To make that big of a jump, in the middle of the school year, without adequate warning, is just ridiculous. For those that can't afford the hike, it's going to be really hard to change preschools in the middle of the school year. It's hard on the child and it's hard to find an opening. Parents didn't receive notice until after the school year started when it was too late to find other, more affordable, preschools.Flag

Name: Cassandra Bradford on Sep 26, 2007Comments: I love this program and would hate to loose the parent involvement and support due to such a high rate increase. There is no program in the area that requires the parent involvement that we provide at the rate that we have been given without any warning or notice. We support this program whole heartedly and would hate to see "OUR" Children loose out on such a wonderful experience.Flag

Name: Karyn Pena on Sep 26, 2007Comments: I myself researched other community colleges nearby, including Orange County schools, and found the new rates to be well above any of them. They also included longer child care hours for the same rate, thus eliminating schedule conflicts for working parents and students without additional fees.Flag

With the increase in tuition, we will not be able to continue...It's a huge increase at one time. Please consider a smaller increase at this time. Thank you for your consideration, Julie and Matthew FitzgibbonsFlag

Name: Walin And Chris Thompson on Sep 26, 2007Comments: Community colleges are publicly funded institutions paid for with tax dollars. Their primary function should be to benefit their student body and the community at large. Charging students and parents who participate in the CDC program market rates, or above, is disingenuos. We have participated in the LBCC program for 3 years. We have enjoyed it and believe the staff does a great job. However, we will be leaving the program at the end of this semester. Montessori is less expensive and provides longer hours of education and supervision for their students, for less money. This is a sad day for LBCC when they ignore the people who need the college most, their students..Flag

Sending out a notice after the semester had begun with a sudden and gigantic fee increase not only seemed to fly in the face of the the Center's philosophy, it severely damaged my trust in the way the Center operates.Flag

Name: Grace Olson-Bonilla on Sep 27, 2007Comments: I have been a HUGE fan of LBCC CDC because of the progressive philosophies, inclusive dynamics, and community-accessibility. In the past, I have passed out flyers to everyone I meet with infants or toddlers. HOWEVER, my child will not continue to attend the center if the fees are raised to $30/session. I have 3 children, and this increase would increase my MONTHLY childcare/education costs to over $2000. We are not wealthy, just a working class family. The new fees are WAY out of line with what a working class, Long Beach family can afford. Is this center here to benefit the community or profit from itFlag

Name: Heather Sanchez on Sep 29, 2007Comments: My huband and I both work outside the home and we still live on a tight budget (like most of our families at CDC LBCC). I choose to work part-time, instead of full-time, because I feel its important to be at home with young children. I don't know how we will be able to afford the proposed price increase. I guess I will have to get an extra evening job, and be away from my family. I don't want to leave the center, because my daughter and I, love it so much.Flag
