   Comments: I am completely appalled to hear of the treatment that Emmie received. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain and fear she must have felt as she lay dying in a strange environment, away from her family. Had her owner been contacted, she would have received vet care, and very possibly would still be alive.

    Comments: I worked for animal control for three years and this is completely unacceptable. Lawton Animal Control should not only be shut down, but its officers should be arrested and charged with animal cruelty.

    Comments: Not only should this shelter be closed, but every owner who had a pet at this shelter who was not contacted should file a lawsuit against the shelter/city for gross negligence.

    Comments: The treatment of this animal was inhumane and cruel. Emmie was a very much loved family pet and did not deserve to die alone in a strange place on a cold concrete floor with no medical treatment whatsoever. I certainly question why her owners were not called as she had all their contact information on her collar. The very least that should happen here is that the animal control officer should be fired and new rules and regulations put into effect. God Speed, little Emmie. Our thoughts and prayers are now with your family who are left to deal with this atrocity. This is going to anger so many people.

    Comments: If this was behavior displayed by the average civilian, they would be arrested for animal cruelty/neglect/abuse. Why should the people involved with this shelter be treated any differently The word shelter by definition implies protection. What kind of protection is this The dog, Emmie, would have been better off left where she was after being hit. She would have stood a better chance of getting help from some who really cares about animals. This shelter needs to be closed immediately so that no other animal receives such poor care and treatment.
