Do to long term abuse and neglect of animals in the care of the Lawton Animal Control, we petition that the shelter be closed. The animals in their care have little bedding, and are shown little care. Emmie, a weimeriner, was picked up by Animal Control Wednesday, March 19, 2008, after being struck by a car. She later died of blood loss after they left her in a cage, bleeding out, without calling the owner or seeking medical attention. This is just one of many complaints and one of many reasons why the shelter should be closed. Animal cruelty should not need to occur when they are in the car of Animal Control.
