To skip the soapbox portion just sign the petition if you'd like to get less emails from Fordham, especially the ones that don't matter to a law student. My solution: a simple opt-out feature in every mass email from every department. We are constantly bombarded with emails today. Spam, subscriptions, chain letters, and the list continues. If you're like me, then it is difficult to keep up and often times important emails fall through the e-crack. Never has that problem been so evident as with emails from Fordham University. Between the IT emails, the CPC emails, the PIRC emails, all the various student group emails, the Registrar emails, etc. it is difficult, if not impossible, to keep up. I recently sat down with an administrator to discuss a mistake I made regarding my credit hours. When I told her I didn't realize that I was supposed to fulfill a certain requirement, she responded that I get plenty of emails instructing me on what to do. I laughed, because if you're like me then you delete 80% of the emails that you get from Fordham, because 95% of the time when you read them, they are useless. She sympathized with me, but said that there was nothing they could do. The Fordham Administration (in Rosehill) would not consider separating law school list serves from other, more general list serves. That's when I decided that we can't keep allowing Fordham's Administration to apathetically treat the law school as a satellite office in a far off land. Last I checked we were the highest ranked school that Fordham has, and I am sure that we bring in pretty good money for this University considering I will be paying my loans for tuition well into my twilight years. In short, I would like to demonstrate to Fordham that we want a say in the way our school is operated. I feel that the best way to get their attention is with a united front. So please sign this petition so that we can bring this to our Deans' attention and maybe get something done with this administration that is positive. Oh yeah, and if they would like all of us to use myfordham, why don't they keep all these announcement on there If I really cared when Fordham's Varsity Football team was playing I would much rather click on the link to their schedule on myfordham rather than get a new email on the matter every week.
