Modern methods of using delegates to represent the voters in a particular area are outdated. With today's technology, we have the ability to record and report individual citizens votes almost immediately. Delegate positions were created in a time when we did not have this technology and as a way to speed up the process of voting. Delegates can be "influenced" to use their votes in a manner that may not reflect the beliefs of the people they are supposed to be representing. The American People are no longer being represented with this system. In our current system, politicians and their representatives are doing the voting and the American citizen is not represented at all. This voter controlled, real vote system should be used for every political office from President down to dog catcher. The american people are quite capable of choosing a president without the input of the GOP and the democratic convention, who 3 weeks later are worried about the people they nominated. This system needs overhauling very badly. We propose to ask our local and federal representatives to start changing laws and bringing about more power to the citizens.
