This is one last attempt to have Lavin Richards transferred to the St Peter's Richmond Villa from Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Over a year ago Sarah Richards struggled to take care of her husband, Lavin Richards, who is paralysis on the right side and cannot talk from a stroke he took in 1991. For over 20 years, it was her alone who cared for him, not asking for help. When he took a turn for the worse, Sarah reluctantly agreed to place him in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home on the condition, and understanding that he would be transferred to the Richmond Villa once a bed opens up. That was over a year ago and since then she has been given the run around by the "higher ups". Sarah was recently told that because he has no sisters, brothers, or parents living at the Richmond Villa he will not be transferred there. They offered a bed in Arichat instead. The Villa would not even grant Lavin a bed to spend more time with his son Tony, who was losing his battle with Cancer Lavin can only get around in a wheelchair. The Lion's Club in St Peter's generously donated him a motorized wheelchair which he can’t use in Port Hawkesbury because there are no sideways where the home is. Therefore, Sarah travels 45kms one way to Port Hawkesbury three times a week via public transit to see her husband. We are upset and confused by all this. I hope that by sending out this petition, someone out there knows how to help us fight this. Lavin and Sarah long to be back in St Peter's together where she can visit every day. So if you call sign this petition in order to bring Lavin (my Grampie) back home, my whole family would be so very thankful.
