Comments: A great operational definition of 'post-racial' - we get rid of music that isn't white enough for us. You folks need to wake up and deal with the fact that it is our racial diversity that has enriched even white music (and I am white and 65 years old).

Comments: Corporate Greed and Cultural Genocide at the Grammies: Most of the musical categories eliminated by the Grammies this year were Latin, black and nonwhite. We need musical diversity not musical racism!

Comments: I am a Jazz Singer and also a multi-cultured person from the SF Bay Area. They are sending a very bad message to all the cultures related to the categories cut, the music industry, as well as the world in general. The message is that these cultures & their contributions to our music is insignificant. Santana & John Santos come to mind as 2 bay area artists that they would be saying that about. The thought of this as being ridiculous should have come across the minds of NARAS members, but what is so disturbing is that it didn't. It is obvious to me that those involved are totally disrespecting & disregarding the history of "Jazz", born here (USA), & our diverse cultures fusing together into "Latin Jazz" & "Afro-Cuban Jazz". They can't re-write our history as what is significant or not. I support any movement to get this reversed. So sad to see this in 2012........................

Comments: For the sake of music, please do not remove these categories. There are many genres of music, and not all receive enough radio play to earn "platinum" status. Awards like the Grammy's validate musicians in a way that touring and constant self promotion cannot. Please insure that these categories remain in place.

Comments: The only exposure viewers got to Latin music at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards was when NY Giant Victor Cruz did his salsa dance. How insulting to all the great musicians who could have put on a great performance. It was a missed opportunity to introduce the viewing public to some really terrific music in those categories. I remember recent ceremonies when Ricky Martin and Robert Randolph and the Family Band performed. Those were the best performances of the night in their respective years. They were nominated in categories that are no longer showcased. What a terrible outcome for American music.

Comments: It's a shame that music that is America's classical music (Jazz) has been eliminated from the Grammy's. It is a slap in the face to the many artist who contribute to the enrichment of the American culture and to the generations of other musicians who aspire to play Jazz.

Comments: It's bad enough that most of the music of today is bad pop but I suspect that it will get even worse if our "roots" are marginalized or eventually forgotten. Our youthful musicians need to understand that "indigenous" music is still relevant.
