We, the undersigned, concerned residents of Lansdale, object to the current plans of the YMCA Expansion project that do not address significant safety concerns related to the Forest Ave entrance.

The current entryway to this property was not designed, nor constructed to safely allow for pedestrian, vehicular, and commercial traffic.  We believe the right of way is currently a safety concern, the YMCA owners are unwilling to address this matter, and the entranceway will only become a more significant problem given the proposed expansion planned for by the YMCA Expansion project.

The existing safety concerns are as follows:

1.) There are no sidewalks for pedestrians, and are not possible under the current private ownership.

2.) The right of way between Highland and the YMCA property is not wide enough for safe passage of two vehicles, side-by-side.

3.) The entranceway for the property was not designed for the anticipated increased vehicular traffic along with pedestrian traffic, nor has this been addressed in the current Expansion plan.

4.) The existing intersection of Highland and Forest Avenues contain a two-way stop signal, which we believe is insufficient for the increased traffic (vehicular & pedestrian) expected at this intersection.

We call upon the Lansdale Borough Council to:

1. reject this current proposed plan

2. investigate all the options for this entranceway up to and including restricting vehicular traffic in that entrance way due to our noted safety concerns

3. have the developers fully consult with all residents of Church Road, Forest Ave, Highland Ave, and other concerned residents on any future proposals related to this entranceway
