A skateboard park would be a great addition to the town of Lanigan. A skateboard park is one of the things that our town could really use. Many people are starting to and already are skateboarding and bmx'ing. If our town had a skateboard park it would keep kids off the roads with their bikes and skateboards. The skatepark will provide a safe place to skateboard or bike. A majority of the deadly accidents that happen to people while they’re skateboarding involve a motor vehicle. In towns and cities across the nation the most interesting terrain for skateboarding is found in the streets and sidewalks. The skatepark will be the safe place to skate but for it to be effective it must be more interesting than what’s out “in the wild.” In 2006, 42 people riding skateboards died. Of those, 40 of them were not in a skatepark and 27 of those involved a motor vehicle. In other words, of these 42 deaths, 40 of them might have been prevented had the person been skating in a skatepark instead of the streets.There are more than 2-million skateboarding videos on YouTube with many featuring over 5-million views each. Having a skatepoark in our town would bring more money into our buisnesses and attract more people to our town. The skatepark would help get kids out of the house and active. It's another spot in our town that would not cost much money and is fun to do. some people are buying very expensive equipment and have no place to use it. The skatepark could be in the outdoor rink during the summer and taken down before the steel freezes to the concrete and so that there is still an out door rink. Kids in Lanigan have to drive to humboldt to skate on a skatepark. It would let kids be able to practice their skills and interests. We would help fundraise for the cost of the skatepark. Some ways of fundraising could be a bottle drive, donation boxes, a bake sale, etc. A skatepar would be a very good addition to our town.
