HAYNESVILLE SHALE LANDOWNERS ASSOCIATION - HSLA
PETITION for PROTECTIVE ORDINANCES:
WHEREAS, we, the citizens of Shreveport, Bossier City, Caddo and Bossier Parishes are contemplating drilling and production of oil and gas near residences and in urban neighborhoods, which development activities will dramatically change the economy and the ecology of the area in which we live and work;
WHEREAS, the citizens desire that the oil and gas resources be developed; and
WHEREAS, study has shown that mineral development can coexist with residential properties without destroying the values, the safety and the peace and tranquility of the neighborhoods and homes;
WHEREAS, it has been demonstrated that the measures for preserving the quality of life are technically available and economically feasible while allowing full development of minerals; and
WHEREAS, uniformity of these required protections is desirable throughout our area;
NOW THEREFORE, we the undersigned citizens of Shreveport, Bossier City, Caddo and Bossier Parishes respectfully request that the City Councils and Parish Commissions of these jurisdictions enact Ordinances in their respective jurisdictions which will protect the citizens, their health and safety and their property values in the face of development of oil and gas resources in the respective Cities and Parishes.
